WE PROVIDE A SAFE HAVEN FOR OUR COMMUNITY EQUINES

FERA - Foothills Equine Rescue Assistance works closely with the Polk County animal control officers and animal cruelty investigators to render help to rescue neglected, abandoned and abused equines in our area. When an equine is released to FERA, the animal receives an assessment by a veterinarian, begins a carefully supervised feeding program and is provided farrier and dental care if needed. The equine is then placed in foster care until healthy enough to be adopted by an approved applicant.

FERA also provides hay to owners struggling financially. In addition, we now have a voucher program for those needing financial assistance for the castration or humane euthanasia of their equines. Through the generous support of our community, we have been able to build an emergency shelter for equines at the Foothills Humane Society. This allows equines to be removed quickly from unsafe conditions. We need your continued financial support to be able to provide these services and care to the equines and their owners in our community.
